Jeremy L. Davis, MD is a Professor of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His major areas of research include the education and training of surgical oncologists, clinical trials for early detection and treatment of gastric cancer, and the molecular underpinnings of CDH1-driven gastric carcinogenesis. As a clinical investigator, Dr. Davis has conducted multiple investigator-initiated clinical trials for early detection of gastric cancer and regional therapy for gastric carcinomatosis. His most substantive impact has been on the lives of patients with hereditary diffuse gastric cancer, which were made through longitudinal studies and practice-changing translational research. Dr. Davis also serves as Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is a member of the Cancer Therapeutics Program at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center. He leads the Precancer Genomics Lab, which studies the genomic landscape of precancerous cells and their microenvironment, seeking to identify vulnerabilities and unlock strategies for cancer interception.
