Dr. Margo Shoup is a physician executive and surgical oncologist who has been leading academic and community cancer programs for the last two decades. Currently, she is the President and Chief Medical Officer of the MultiCare Cancer Institute and is on the executive team for Multicare Health Systems in the Pacific Northwest, with headquarters in Tacoma, Washington. Her current role at MultiCare Health includes strategic and programmatic development of oncology care, inorganic and organic growth including mergers and acquisitions, quality improvement and oversight of the financial performance of the MultiCare Cancer Institute.
Dr. Shoup did her medical training at Northwestern University in Chicago, her surgical fellowship at Loyola University in the Chicago suburbs, her surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NY and she received her MBA from UMass Amherst. Dr. Shoup served as a Director of the American Board of Surgery, and has been President of the Chicago Surgical Society, the Western Surgical Association, the Central Surgical Association and the Midwest Surgical Association, and is currently the Vice President of the Society of Surgical Oncology. Having held Professorship positions at both Northwestern and Loyola, she transitioned to community healthcare system leadership 14 years ago and is most passionate about bringing high quality care to all communities while educating physicians on the business of medicine, giving them the tools to lead our healthcare systems.
Margo has been married for 35 years and has two grown children and enjoys hiking, boating and golfing.
