Dr. Vivian J. Bea, MD, MS, MBA is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and is the Regional Director of the Breast Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She received her master’s degree in biology from Drexel University and her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine. Board-certified in General Surgery, Dr. Bea completed her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She later earned her MBA from Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business and an MS in Healthcare Leadership from Weill Cornell Medicine.
A nationally recognized breast cancer disparities researcher, educator, and community leader, Dr. Bea is dedicated to bridging the gap between multidisciplinary breast cancer care and community barriers. Her clinical and research interests focus on weight management in breast cancer survivors, equitable access to care across the treatment continuum, and eliminating racial disparities in outcomes.
Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the American Medical Association’s National Minority Quality Forum “Top 40 Under 40 in Minority Health.” She has been featured by ABC News, CBS News, USA Today, the New York Post, Essence, and Allure Magazine.
