Dr. Mayte Bryce-Alberti was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where she earned her medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. She completed a year as a Paul Farmer Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard’s Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, where she conducted and published research on surgical epidemiology, healthcare disparities in Latin America and Rwanda, and health system responses to crises. She is currently a second year general surgery resident at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and plans to pursue a career in academic colon and rectal surgery, with research interests focused on healthcare disparities, particularly in colorectal cancer care.
