Dr. Catherine Sarre is a surgical oncologist and clinical researcher specializing in melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma, and gastrointestinal malignancies. She completed her General Surgery residency at the National Health Sciences Institute in Mexico City, followed by a Master’s degree in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, and a Master’s in Health Administration.
Dr. Sarre joined Western University after completing advanced fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She completed dedicated international melanoma and sarcoma training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne and the National Cancer Institute in Milan.
Her research focuses on optimizing multimodal treatment strategies for locally advanced melanoma and sarcoma, with a particular interest in neoadjuvant immunotherapy and intratumoral immune modulation. She has contributed to multiple international collaborations, including the TransAtlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group, the Society of Surgical Oncology Sarcoma Working Group, and the Mexican Sarcoma Group.
Dr. Sarre’s work has been recognized with the University of Toronto Zane Cohen Clinical Fellowship Award. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Annals of Surgical Oncology, European Journal of Surgical Oncology, and British Journal of Surgery. Through her research and clinical practice, Dr. Sarre is committed to advancing immune-modulatory and precision-based strategies in the treatment of melanoma and sarcoma, and to fostering international collaboration in surgical oncology research.
