Andrew M. Pregnall is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He attended Virginia Tech from 2015–2019 where he completed a dual degree in microbiology and history, graduating as the 2019 Undergraduate Student of the Year and a recipient of the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. During his time as a Marshall Scholar, Andrew completed an MSc with Distinction in Health Data Science at University College London and an MPhil with Distinction in Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge. At Penn, Andrew has focused his research on the genomics of surgical diseases—including hernias and metastatic pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas—and physiologic processes such as the regulation of temperature and heart rate. Andrew now plans to pursue a career in anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
