Dr. Sampathkumar graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Psychology before completing her medical degree. She is currently a general surgery resident at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and is undertaking a T32 postdoctoral research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center through the Oncology-focused Postdoctoral Training in Care Delivery and Symptom Science (OPTICS) Training Program. In this role, she is engaged in multidisciplinary research aimed at understanding the clinical, social, and systemic factors that influence whether patients receive appropriate anti-cancer therapy. Her work ultimately seeks to develop interventions that can reduce inequities in care delivery and improve breast cancer outcomes for diverse patient populations.
