Julian Padget is a reader (associate professor) at the University of Bath, UK. He received a BSc in Computational Science from the University of Leeds (UK) in 1981 and a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bath (UK) in 1984. He has published over 250 articles and supervised over 30 PhD students to completion. He researches primarily in artificial intelligence and its applications with interdisciplinary work such as this, as well as life sciences, power systems, systems engineering, social policy in relation to AI and contributes to standards-making at ISO, IEEE (technical editor of IEEE 7003-2024) and CEN (standards in support of the EU AI Act), mostly working on issues related to the management of bias in algorithmic decision-making.
