Ms Denise Vorburger is a Consultant OB/GYN and a Consultant Breast Surgeon and the deputy director of the breast unit at Cantonal Hospital Winterthur, Switzerland. She is the head of breast surgery and specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery. She is also part of the medical oncology department for systemic breast cancer treatment.
She studied medicine at Zurich University, qualifying in 2007. After completing her core surgical- and OB/GYN training at Zurich University Hospital, she specialised in gynecologic surgery before joining the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich at University Hospital Zurich in 2016. There, she was part of the core team for comprehensive breast cancer care, including diagnostics, oncoplastic breast surgery and systemic treatment for breast cancer in both the curative and metastatic setting. She has been the principal- and sub-investigator on several national and international studies regarding breast surgical oncology and industry-sponsored trials on breast cancer drugs.
After earning her certification as a senior breast surgeon from the German Cancer Society (DKG) and the Swiss Society of Senology, she joined the Breast Unit at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK as an oncoplastic breast surgical fellow, sponsored by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh within the International Postgraduate Deanary program.
She is a lecturer at Zurich University and teaches courses and masterclass programs throughout Switzerland. Since 2025, she is an examiner for the UEMS exams (European Board of Surgical Oncology Qualification, FEBS Breast).
