General Surgery Resident
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Los Angeles, California, United States
I am a PGY-2 General Surgery resident at University of California, Irvine with a clinical and academic interest in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery and surgical oncology. I aspire to pursue fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology with a focus HPB malignancies.
After obtaining my MD with highest honors from the Università degli Studi di Udine (Italy), I completed several years of dedicated translational research training in the United States. My post-doctoral work under the menthorship of Dr. Soldano Ferrone MD PhD and Dr. Cristina Ferrone MD at the Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, focused on mechanisms of tumor immune evasion and resistance to adoptive cellular immunotherapy in solid tumors. Specifically I investigated strategies to enhance chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell efficacy in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and uveal melanoma liver metastases and support their translation into clinical trials. My ongoing research integrates tumor microenvironment biology, multi-omic molecular profiling, and clinical outcome research with clinical and translational potential to improve our understanding of disease biology in HPB cancers. I have authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications in leading surgical, oncology, and basic science journals, and have presented my work at national and international meetings including the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, and American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
Clinically, I am interested in the multidisciplinary management and surgical treatment of patients with HPB disease. My long-term goal is to become an academic HPB surgeon-scientist dedicated to integrating advanced surgical oncology with translational research to improve lives of patients with HPB tumors.
