Surgical oncologist

Milan, Lombardia, Italy
I am a surgical oncologist at Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, where my clinical practice is fully dedicated to the care of patients with soft tissue sarcoma and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). I completed my surgical training in Milan before pursuing a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto, which I completed in 2020. Since 2017, I have been a member of the Sarcoma Service at the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, one of the leading sarcoma referral centers in Europe. In addition to my clinical activity, I am responsible for the international observership program within the Sarcoma Service, coordinating training experiences for visiting surgeons from abroad. My primary research focus is the development, validation, and implementation of prognostic models for patients with soft tissue sarcoma of the extremities and retroperitoneum. I am among the developers of Sarculator, one of the few smartphone and tablet applications designed to predict prognosis in patients with soft tissue sarcoma, aimed at facilitating evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice. I have been actively involved in the Transatlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG) since its inception. I currently co-coordinate the group’s Clinical Trial Committee, promoting development and dissemination of clinical trials in retroperitoneal sarcoma.
