Over 30 years experience as Surgical Oncologist - now focused primarily on foregut malignancies (HPB and stomach/esophagus) and teaching of residents.
Previously served as Program Director both in and out of the US Military - served as General Surgery Residency PD at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii from 2002 to 2005. Retired honorably as Lieutenant Colonel. Recently resigned from General Surgery Residency PD role at Corewell Health West/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan in June 2025 after serving in that role for 11 years.
Have presented and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and still actively engaged with cliniical and educational related research.
Have served as Certifying Examiner for the American Board of Surgery for nearly 10 years - stopped in March of 2025.
Have recently served on the Advisory Committe for General Surgery for American College of Surgeons - representing Midwest Surgial Association. Still actively engaged in and serving as ACS Connect "advisor" on ad hoc basis.
