Dr. Garstka is an academic breast surgical oncologist and Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University (BA, Molecular and Cellular Biology/Spanish majors, General Music minor) and subsequently graduate school at the Tulane University School of Science and Engineering (MS, Cell and Molecular Biology) and Tulane University School of Medicine (MD). She then completed her General Surgery Residency at the Tulane University School of Medicine and fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology at the combined program of Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women's Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Insitute prior to joining the surgery faculty at the University of Maryland. Her reseach interests include patient reported outcomes in breast cancer and other clincal outcomes research for breast cancer and general surgical oncology.
