Julia Pedo Freitas is a general surgery resident at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, with research interests in HPV-associated malignancies and colorectal cancer. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry with concentrations in biochemistry and psychology from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree in epidemiology from the University of Tennessee. She conducts translational research in Dr. David Shibata’s laboratory and clinical outcomes research in colorectal cancer, with plans to pursue a career in surgical oncology.
