Dr. Dima Malkawi is a general surgery resident at the University of Colorado with a strong academic and research background. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed her undergraduate education at McMaster University, graduating summa cum laude. Dr. Malkawi has a demonstrated commitment to scholarly work, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations spanning surgical oncology, transplantation, bariatric surgery, and health systems research. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Malkawi serves as a class representative in her residency program, where she is actively involved in residency applicant review and interviewing. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and holds ACLS and ATLS certification. Her academic interests include complex surgical disease, outcomes research, and advancing evidence-based surgical care, with a long-term goal of pursuing fellowship training and an academic surgical career.
