Dr. D’Agostino is a professor of Biostatistics and Data Science and fellow of the American Statistical Association with over 30 years of experience in working on large scale clinical trials and cohort studies. He has over 440 peer reviewed papers and has been the PI for several research grants, large multi-center projects, and contracts. Most recently he served as PI for the Search for Diabetes in Youth Data Coordinating Center from 2010-2022. This was a national multi-center study aimed at understanding more about diabetes among children and young adults in the United States and was funded by the Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). This study had more than 20,000 study participants representing different racial and ethnic backgrounds that helped SEARCH determine the extent of diabetes in the community and its impact on different populations. In addition, he has been the Director of the Biostatistics Shared Resource at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest University for more than 20 years and during this time he has directed numerous clinical trials. He has served on numerous Data Monitoring Committees on clinical trials and has also served on National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) scientific review panels for many years. He has expertise in statistical methods in particular those involving the use of propensity scores in research settings.
